One of the best messages I have heard recently which stresses the importance of self discovery in in life was by Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, an outstanding Christian business woman.
She cited two instances
on discovering YOU and knowing YOU which
is the topic of the book our brother Benjamin Sanni has
written and we are here today to present .
While addressing singles
at the meeting, Mrs Awosika asked ‘’if
you know what you know about yourself , will you marry you?’’.
The second you question
was “ If God opens doors of favour for you and you get a major
appointment you have been praying for and you fail due to the lack of
knowledge of handling the job, who do you blame? You blame you she stated.
The lesson in the in
these two statements underscores the fact that you are responsible for either
your success or failure in life.
For you to succeed you
must discover who you are and do all you need to do to fulfill God’s purpose
for your life.
There are both spiritual
and practical steps you need to take in life that brother Sanni has carefully
outlined and explained in details in this truly Illuminating Guide To Success.
Based on the word of
God, personal life experiences and exposition by other authors the
reminded us of the critical need
for self discovery in the journey of life
.
Someone once said, “if you don’t know where you are
going, everywhere you get to will seem like where you think you are going”.
The chapters in this
well researched book includes what is discovery?. The concept of creativity,
The You!, Do you know Yourself?, Your beginning, What can I do to discover
myself?, The Pitfall of Discovery, The Arrival and The Set Time.
At a first glance, there
is the temptation that this publication may well yet be another addition to
piles of simplistic motivational books which makes success appear like magic.
However, a thorough
reading and meditating, yes, meditating on the issues raised in chapters
provides deep insight on not only the need for self discovery but the process
and the practical steps required.
The author
justified the basis of his assertions
based on tasted principles and definitions which will help a reader to
understand the concept of discovery.
For example, in
explaining what discovery is, the author does not take it for granted that the
meaning is obvious and well known.
He provides some of the
dictionary definitions like:
Manifestation of great
power of will
Showing the strength
you've gotten to move from one level to another
To be certain of a
phenomenon and has a new idea of something from a different perspective.
What do you need to do
to discover yourself?
The author explains in
chapter six, develop your leadership trait, don't maintain the status quo,
don't celebrate mediocrities, don't be a slave, don't jump to bad wages and
don't be busy while lazy.
These are many of the
things you need to do which I want to encourage everybody here and others who
desire to have Godly success to do.
The taste of pudding is
in the eating. Reading this book no
matter what stage you are presently in life, will give you the guidelines you
need to be someone you are and who God says you are and has the ability to
be where God wants you to be.
It's not enough to claim
God's promises without doing what is required of you as outlined in this
book. I recommend the book to all who
desire to die empty according to Dr. Myles Monroe.
In conclusion, I urge
you all to get a copy of the book for yourself and for others to drink from the
fountain of knowledge which this book is.
Knowledge is power. The
secret of a man, according to my father in the lord Bishop David Oyedepo, is
his story. We all need to seek the knowledge in this book.
I commend the author for
his efforts and pray that God will use this book to DISCOVER THE YOU IN YOU.
